I like to look back and think about how things have changed in my lifetime. One thing I can’t help but marvel at is how media-consumed our world has become. Don’t get me wrong, I embrace most of it. I decided not to continue the debate with myself when I realized that those Nielsen people can figure all this out for themselves. And when the formula isn’t working, they’ll cancel the shows despite how the rest of us feel. In short, I’m just going to keep getting my entertainment where and how I see fit, and stop thinking so darn much about it!

When you’re a child, you look up to the kids that are older than you—siblings, friends of your siblings, older cousins, the upper grades at school. You try to hang around them and soak up their world because it’s certainly more fun and exciting than what you’re allowed to do. It’s as though, somehow, just being around older kids will rub off and make you older, too.

As the only child in my age group, I went through this for many years. Eventually new kids were born and then I was the older one that was looked up to.
